Multiple light scattering, in general, is considered as an obstacle for optical imaging. A speckle pattern as a consequence of multiple scattering conceals the useful object information behind its complicated distribution and thus disrupts the clean image formation. However, speckle patterns can be used for better optical imaging due to the unique optical properties. Here we show how either static or dynamic speckle fields, generated by multiple scattering from a complex medium, can improve the performance of optical imaging such as resolution and image quality.
