Nambu and the Standard Model

Two most important achievements of Nambu (2008 Nobel Physics Prize) are introduction of the color SU(3) and the idea of spontaneous symmetry breaking. The two ideas started today's standard model. I will explain these two concpts. Talk is aimed at general physics audience at the first year graduate level.
