Anomalous properties of superfluid 3He in aerogel
We have studied superfluid 3He in Aerogel. 3He is Fermion and below 2.5 mK it shows superfluidity forming Cooper pairs. The superfluid phase of 3He has coherence length 18 to 70 nm depending on pressure. Aerogel has a network of chains of silica (SiO2), and has large porosity, more than 95% is possible. Average diameter of the chain of silica is about 3 nm and the maximum inter-chain distance is around 100 nm, which depends on the porosity. Because of the small diameter of silica, Aerogel behaves like an imputiry for Superfluid 3He. We have measured the superfluid density and the transition temperatures at several pressures. Our results and recent studies will be shown in my talk.
