Magnetism in two-dimensional van der Waals materials

자성 반데르발스 물질 연구는 박제근 교수가 세계 최초로 개척하고 주도하는 주제로서 불과 지난 2-3년 사이에 전세계적으로 많은 주목을 끌고 있는 분야이다. Nature 지는 이 분야의 중요성에 주목하여 분야를 개척한 박제근 교수에게 분야의 전망을 담은 리뷰 논문을 의뢰하여 이번 11월 1일자 Nature에 발표하였다. 박제근 교수는 이 리뷰논문에서 이 분야의 발전가능성을 다각도로 제시하고 앞으로의 전망을 제시하고 있다.
Abstract: The discovery of materials has often ushered in an era of new paradigms for fundamental understanding and novel devices. Two-dimensional magnetism with intrinsically strong spin fluctuations has long been at the core of fundamental questions in condensed matter physics, specifically how to understand and control these excitations. The arrival of new magnetic van der Waals materials represents a major shift in the control and investigation of nanoscale phases.
