This talk, which aimes for general audiences in physics,
will be consisting of:
1) Introduction to quantum computing including quantitative
comparison of the performance between classical and quantum computers,
2) The current status of the worldwide quantum computer developments,
3) Description of our original idea of constructing quantum computers
using silicon [1, 2], and
4) The current status of solid-state experimental research leading to
our silicon quantum computers. [3-7]
