As atoms get colder, they act less and less like particles and
more and more like quantum waves. When atoms get so cold that the quantum
wave of one atom overlaps with the quantum wave of another atom, a new
form of matter appears, the Bose-Einstein condensation. I will explain
how we were able to cool a gas to within one millionth of a degree of
absolute zero, and the strange things we saw there.
