The Standard Model of particle physics has been highly successful in describing the fundamental forces and particles in the universe.
However, several unresolved questions suggest the existence of new physics beyond the Standard Model. The muon's anomalous magnetic moment (g-2) has been a cornerstone in testing the Standard Model, providing a highly precise comparison between theoretical prediction and experimental measurement. Since the BNL821 revealed a tantalizing deviation between the measured and predicted values of g-2, it became even more interesting and important parameter. More recently, the muon g-2 experiment at Fermilab has confirmed and refined this discrepancy. The new experiment at J-PARC designed to measure the muon’s g-2 and EDM employs the novel experiment techniques, such as muon cooling and low-emittance beams. The J-PARC experiment aims to achieve measurements that are complementary to those at Fermilab and provide deeper insights into potential contributions from unknown particles or interactions.
The talk will explore how J-PARC’s approach could resolve current puzzles.
