I will go over the research topics I worked on during the last 40 years. It starts with the high-Tc superconductivity including its thin film and Josephson junction development. Pervoskite dielectric oxides were studied via the newly developed scanning microwave microscopy. After feeling that the oxde surfaces and interfaces are not controllable, I moved on to metallic heterostructures - the proximity effect between the superconductor Nb and the ferromagnet CoFe and Ni. About 15 years ago we have stumbled on perovskite stannates.  It turned out to be one of a few perovskite oxides which possesses both interesting properties (namely high mobility semiconductor) and stable interfaces. I will go over its 2DEG and field effect structures we developed and present its unique properties compared to other semiconducting 2DEG. I will try to describe how the field of perovskite oxides may evolve in the future. Due to the limited time for detailed technical contents, I will try to put more weight on why I have chosen such research topics and how it worked out for me.
