Research Interests

My laboratory develops new biomedical tools to study how gene expression is regulated at the RNA level in the neural network of live animals. Our research is based on a multifaceted systems approach combining optics, multi-modal imaging, microfluidics, biochemistry, genetic engineering, and quantitative single-molecule analysis. Our current projects cover the following topics.
• Development of non-invasive imaging techniques to probe gene expression in live animals
• Dynamics of transcription and localization of single RNA in the neural network of the brain
• Dynamic remodeling of ribonucleoprotein (RNP) complexes during the life cycle of RNA
