Collective decisions refers to a statistical physics of complex, cogitating, and contriving agents. Life is an embodiment of such whether we speak of human society (e.g., political decisions, migration, or information consumption in businesses) or of the wider biological world (e.g., information processing in the brain, foraging, or status competition). How do we begin modeling these systems, and what are the relevant constraints? Where does a physics approach lead, and what are the shortcomings? I will discuss some of our approaches to various systems across the spectrum of social and biological behavior to stitch together a statistical physics of collective decisions.
